WHAT IS IT LIKE TO LIVE IN KASHMIR???
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO LIVE IN KASHMIR???
If I describe it one word, it would be that. I know this sounds strange because the place is very (in)famous for lack of peace, but I say this with utmost conviction that there is no place more peaceful in its peacelessness as Kashmir.
❉After a long tiring, frustrating day , driving along the foreshore road and watching the sun set into the Dal Lake with all its hues of red and gold.
.
❉Waking up to the chill of a winter morning in your cozy bed, knowing that it snowed last night and anticipating a thick white blanket on everything outside.
.
.
❉Hearing birds retiring to their nests at the fall of dusk.
.
.
❉Watching star lit night skies in the summer.
.
.
❉Fragrance of blossoming flowers at the arrival of spring.
.
.
❉Sleeping in the Hamam ( Kashmiri alternative to fireplace) on a cold freezing day.
.
.
❉Hearing mounds of snow falling from rooftops into a loud thud at night while you read your favourite book in candlelight ( thanks to electricity shortage in winter).
.
.
❉Walking over crunching golden Chinar leaves strewn all over during autumn.
.
.
❉Looking over at the horizon and seeing distant snow clad mountains.
.
.
❉Sipping nun chai on late Sunday mornings.
.
.
Yeah this is exactly how we live. There's this peace in Kashmir that i cannot put into words. Even in this peacelessness, there's some kind of peace that I have never experienced elsewhere. And that is why I will always be a Kashmiri first :)
